Hope is a divine, most powerful pull toward our dream
Whoever has hope is feeling the most powerful pull to move toward a dream. Never confuse Hope with Expectations.
I did write about expectation, and it seems sometimes it is confused with hope.
Read here about How to enjoy Life Better Without Expectation.
One of the most powerful components of dream building is hope. A dream is not big enough if we know exactly how to get there. We need the help of the divine, the universe, which pulls us and motivates us to take action toward our dreams. If we know how to get there, it is not a dream; it may be a goal. Hope is not a longing for something concrete; hope is flexible. Unfulfilled hope does not make despair; we go to the next one, adjust our hope, and keep going. Hope is love; It is accepting and has no conditions. Hope is the upward pull of the divine, a feeling that motivates us to go for something greater, better, new, and never experienced before. And with faith and trust, we can move toward our dream.
Once you choose hope, anything’s possible. ~ Christopher Reeve
Expectation makes stagnant. Either we expect from somebody, or others expect from us. Expectations make you unfree and can lower self-esteem. If we always feel that someone expects something from us, it makes us depressed because we can never make things right. The more we give in, it will become a demand. If we expect from others, we make them unfree, and they feel the pressure.
We have to accept others as they are the same as we like to be accepted as we are. Expectations are concrete; we know what we want others to do or to behave or what we want to get. Expectations either can make you hopeless. Living up to expectations means denying your true self and wearing a mask. This is why many people in our time do not know and love themselves and feel not good enough. People do not dare to be authentic or do not know the self. Read: Do You Dare To Be You?
Hope is not very popular in our era.
Talking about hope is not very popular in our era. It does not fit into materialistic thinking. Hope is an underestimated force. But it is one of the most powerful forces in the universe; it keeps the poorest of the poor moving and can heal. Whoever was in a situation with very sick people knows only if they have hoped a cure is possible. Nobody can guarantee that surgery or treatment is successful. For example, it is the hope of the sick, the family, helpers, and the doctors that are keeping them doing, even in seemingly hopeless cases.
Hope is putting faith to work when doubting would be easier. ~Author Unknown

Hope is faith holding out its hand in the dark. ~George Iles
When the world says, “Give up,”
Hope whispers, “Try it one more time.”

You’ve gotta have hope. Without hope, life is meaningless. Without hope, life is meaningless and less. ~Author Unknown
It is the around-the-corner brand of hope that prompts people to action, while the distant hope acts as an opiate. ~Eric Hoffer
When you say a situation or a person is hopeless, you’re slamming the door in the face of God. ~Charles L. Allen
Hope is the word which God has written on the brow of every man. ~Victor Hugo
God puts rainbows in the clouds so that each of us — in the dreariest and most dreaded moments — can see a possibility of hope. ~Maya Angelou
“Hope is the thing with feathers That perches in the soul And sings the tune without the words And never stops at all.”― Emily Dickinson.
Confusing hope with expectation is also the reason why the law of attraction does not work for many. Expectations can make blind for opportunities. Most people think all has to be right as they imagined and expect the dream to come true in the way they want. They miss the opportunities and signs of the universe on the way.
There is a story:
An old man was living in a house near a river, and a flood was coming. Helpers come to evacuate the people and ask the man to come. He said: “I am not coming with you; I stay in my house; God will save me.”
The water came, and the house got flooded. The old man had to escape to the second floor. A boat came by with helpers and asked him to go with them. Again he said: “I am not coming; God will save me.”
The water was getting higher, and he had to go on the roof of the house. This time a Helicopter came and wanted to rescue him, but he still said: “I am not coming; God will save me.”
Finally, he drowned. When he arrived in heaven, he asked God: ” Why did you not save me? I believed in you and expected that you keep me.” God said:” I sent you people to evacuate you, sent a boat and a helicopter, why did you not go with them?
The universe, God, does not work as we expect; it gives us hope. Hope makes us lookout for signs and opportunities for the next step toward our dream. Never give up hope, and be aware of this divine feeling. Look out, listen to your inner voice, and learn to notice the signs.
There is nothing so well known as that we should not expect something for nothing — but we all do and call it Hope. ~Edgar Howe

The Will and Ways of Hope by Psychology Today – Scott Barry Kaufman, Ph.D
“Talent, skill, ability—whatever you want to call it—will not get you there. Sure, it helps. But a wealth of psychological research over the past few decades shows loud and clear that the psychological vehicles really get you there. You can have the best engine in the world, but you won’t get anywhere if you can’t be bothered to drive it.
Psychologists have proposed lots of different vehicles over the years. Grit, Conscientiousness, self-efficacy, optimism, passion, inspiration, etc. They are all important. One vehicle, however, is particularly undervalued and underappreciated in psychology and society. That’s hope.” continue here.

Hi Erika,
I like the idea that hope allows faith to work.
People get depressed, despondent, or they just “expect” things to work out.
None of those options really work out like hope, which allows you to work with all the gifts you have been given, in confidence that they will be sufficient.
-Donna
Hi Donna,
it is this way, hope is not attached to a person or specific outcome.
Expectation most are dependent on the behavior or doing of others or
we expect things to work how we want. But hope is accepting what is
and having faith in a good outcome. And if we are aware of opportunities
given all will be good without disappointment. It is up to ourselves what
we do, nothing and nobody to blame. Some blame god and the world, but hope
still remains.
Thank you for your thoughts.
To a peaceful, healthy, and successful year 2017
Erika
Hey Erika,
Some of us have so many dreams swirling in our minds, we don’t know where to start while others of us are unable to put our finger on even one. Many people will never accomplish their dreams because they simply refuse to believe in themselves. Optimism is absolutely required for dream fulfillment and life enjoyment.
If you don’t have natural self-confidence and hope, make finding it your first dream to accomplish. By nature, dreams will require perseverance and hope. There will be successes and failures along the way. Those who hope through the failures will accomplish their dreams. Eventually, thanks for sharing your thought with us.
With best wishes,
Amar kumar
Hi Amar,
you are right many people do not even think that they can have dreams.
Many are trapped in circumstances and not able to look beyond them or
do not believe that it can be changed. It is true Optimism is needed
and letting go of limiting beliefs.True Dreams need hope and seeing
the opportunities and action. If there is hope and faith, sometimes
little things can change a life. With hope and faith, we can overcome
failure and with awareness learn from the mistakes. Let’s go with
hope and faith in direction of our dreams.
All the best and to your success in 2017
Thank you
Erika
Hey Erika,
Hope is what keeps your dream alive. Many people just dream about the success but don’t wait for so long. Hope is the most power force to the dreams.
I have always tried to understand why I am working and what would I get from it. I just hope for the best and eventually I get it.
Thanks for sharing this with us.
~Ravi
Hi Ravi,
yes, hope is powerful and better than expectation.
In dream building, you have only to know the why the how is
gods or the work of the universe and often what we need to move
on comes unexpectedly. We only have to be aware of the opportunities.
And if we love what we do we do not look first mainly for the reward,
but it will follow for sure. In the Bhagavat Gita > karma karo fal ki chinta mat karo
You have the right to work, but never to the fruit of work. You should never engage in
action for the sake of reward, nor should you long for inaction.
Perform work in this world, Arjuna, as a man established within himself—without
selfish attachments, and alike in success and defeat.
You sure will get what is yours, Ravi
To your successful year 2017

Hope always works out right. On the way of reaching success, we may face many threats in between like depressed, despondent, etc. But the only remedy to come up this barrier is the hope. It is the self-gift given by ourself. So all your points which you have mentioned was healthy and works out well.
You are right, Sathish,
hope always keeps us moving. Even in difficult time,
hope is the best remedy. Where there is hope, there is
a way. Hope and faith combined are even better to get
to our dream.
I wish you a hope and faithful working to your success in the year 2017
Erika
Hi Erika,
I have a person story like the one you tell about n old man who was living in a house near a river and the flood. Mine had to do with the wilderness and a mountain lion.
Hi Rachel,
I heard it too, both are good. Many stories tell a truth, not always it is understood.
Maybe you should write about?
Thanks for your visit.
All the best
Erika
I love that you make the distinction between hope and expectations. I’ve always thought that expectations are something someone else puts upon you, while hope is a gift you give to yourself. Best wishes for a Happy and Healthy 2017!
Hi Ruth,
you said it very nice; hope is a gift.
Expectation comes from someone else,
but also we have expectation sometimes, and
if we are not aware of this it brings
disappointment. Let’s stay with hope and faith.
Thank you for your wishes and comment.
I wish you a Happy and successful Year 2017 as well
Erika
A few years ago, Erika, I met someone online and we began working in the same team. We got along well, he understood a great deal about marketing, and was from Brazil.
Now, what was so surprising about this gentleman is that he actually despised the word, “hope.” He never used it and felt it was a weak worthless word! I have never before or since had anyone look at hope that way! He is missing out!
Hope and Love are very powerful words that go hand-in-hand, Erika, as you so eloquently point out in your post.
Have an amazing 2017!
Deborah
Deborah,
in my experience people focus on the word. I think hope is human nature even the ones who we say are hopeless, somehow wait for something to happen, which is hope. It is difficult for me to explain.I have a friend, long tome ago we lived together in Iran and studied about religion, the books, bible, quoran and… She said I am an atheist and do not believe in God. I never first talked against it, but during this times I often realised that her focus was on the word God, which maybe in her childhood had an effect on her.She loved the nature, and we have often been travelling together and enjoyed nature. Long after we got to talk again and I said you think all this, where is it coming from, you do not believe that this is something like a higher power? Finally, she agreed that she believes in nature. But for me nature is God, for some this power is Allah, the Universe, Shiva. Does it matter what word we use? I do not like the word hate, but there is hate, I have to accept it. I avoid to use it. It has to do with awareness. Not sure if I could explain it right 🙂
Thank you for your story.
Erika
Well I believe hope is one of the main thing which will make us work consistency towards our dream or goal. Even if we face failures we will keep going.
Its referring to read this post and comments too!
You are right, Rajkumar
Hope is what keeps us going and there is no failure. In reality what we learned to see as failure is an opportunity to learn.
As Abdul Kalam said: “Your last mistake is your best teacher”.If we change our thinking about and look back we will realise that
every mistake or failure, taught us a lesson to move forward. Hope always makes us overcome mistakes or failures.
Thank you for your comment

Hi Erika, I am a none English speaker. So I don’t have adequate knowledge in English. I think hope is an inherent aptitude of human mind. Human being wouldn’t desire to live long in this world If there is no hope. No doubt your write up is inspiring. Regards.
Hi Rabin,
your Englisch seems not as bad as you think and it can always be improved 🙂
Even here hope works. You are right, hope is the thing which keeps us going,
no matter what the situation, life continues if there is hope. I am glad you liked the post:)
