What is Fear?
Can you schedule Fear? Fear is a function that should protect our lives in the early history of mankind.
However, in our civilized society, we cannot just run away or beat somebody when we are scared.
When we block this unconscious reflex it leads to tensions that can even affect our health.
The Stone Age pattern can lead to violence and results in abstruse activities and a need to control the anxiety-causing condition.
Reasons for fear
Civilization has given us a lot of anxiety, not all of this leads to violence, but has an impact as harmful stress.
We fear for our jobs, our future, the questions of our children, of the boss, or what our partners or neighborsΒ think of us.
The list is endless. People react differently to fear, depending on culture, education, and character.
Dealing with fear
Often we do not admit that we are afraid. Fighting, running away, and hide is not appropriate anymore
It is important to recognize exactly what triggers the fear, to deal with it. Do not allow fear, but you may use the distributed adrenaline for positive reactions.
Make fear your partner. If we pay attention to our feelings we can use fear to know what not to do.
It can even guide us.
f fear comes in, our intuition tells us, we need to learn and overcome something.
Here some quotes:
“What is needed, rather than running away or controlling or suppressing or any other resistance, is understanding fear; that means, watch it, learn about it, come directly into contact with it. We are to learn about fear, not how to escape from it.”
-Jiddu Krishnamurti
“Nothing in life is to be feared. It is only to be understood.”
-Marie Curie
“Fear keeps us focused on the past or worried about the future. If we can acknowledge our fear, we can realize that right now we are okay. Right now, today, we are still alive, and our bodies are working marvelously.
Our eyes can still see the beautiful sky. Our ears can still hear the voices of our loved ones.”
-Thich Nhat Hanh
We read so much about the law of attraction, but do we realize and did we understand that where our intention goes the energy flows and we attract more of it?
And did we not all hear these words?
Job 3:25-26:
“What I feared has come upon me;
what I dreaded has happened to me.
I have no peace, no quietness;
I have no rest, but only turmoil.β
This is the truth, I think all of us have at one time in our life experienced it.
If we think too much about our fear we will get more of what we can fear about it.

Schedule your fear
There is a very good way to deal with fear. I learned to schedule my fear, this means it does not even feel like fear to me anymore. You may not believe it, but it is possible.
Therefore, if there is something happening which makes you fearful and is uncomfortable, make a schedule and say: I am going to deal with you in 3 days.
Put your attention on something positive you want to do and whenever this feeling comes up, tell it, later, I deal with you in 3days. Let the mud settle and get clear.
You will see that everything can change for good after this time, but not
when you focus on negative feelings, turmoil, and fear.
My Story about Fear
I had often times when I used to schedule Fear
For example, I came 1980 from Iran to Germany, this was 2 years after the revolution and my husband and I decided that I go to Germany to put the kids’ into school there because in Iran the school of my kids closed and a new law would not let my son out of the land the next year. I went as if we go on a vacation to see what can be done. We thought we have the ability to come and go until there is a solution.
WarΒ changed everything
It was one week later when the war with Iraq started, the border was closed and no way to go back or my husband comes out.
We did not have the intention to go and live in Germany, we had a good life in Iran, even after the revolution. But with this war, everything changed.
The Neighbours every day came to tell me about the bombs over Tehran and how bad it is there. But I did not look even TV, it was anyways not the truth.
First, there was no phone connection, but after 3 days, I got the first message, all are alive nothing bad happened to them.
I have learned to trust my Intuition and did not let fear rule my life. I got busy with life
and discussed every day with my kids the next steps we need to take.
“Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage.
If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy.”
–Dale Carnegie
Remembering
Also, I remember that even without this war, many would have been scared because I was alone with my kids in a huge empty house, not even a phone was there.
My mother lived in another town and wanted me to live there, to help her with my grandma’s house and a huge garden.
Grandma has been living with my mother because she got sick 2 months before and in between the tenants which lived in the house had left. And because nobody was there to take care
they left a big mess, which I needed to take care of.
Now, here I am with my husband still alive and healthy.
I could tell many more stories like this.
Remember!
In this universe, there is no question without an answer and no problem without a solution.
We have a power within us that is far bigger than any tragedy, problem, or fear we ever have in our life.
All we need is faith, thinking positively, intuition, and make Fear our partner.

Hi Erika,
What a good way to deal with fear, especially what you have had to go through. Fear is an emotion and if we react on that, we always seem to go down the wrong road. Instead, by taking your advice and pushing it away for a while, we can deal with a problem at hand with a more stronger decision.
I just loved this story you shared. Keep them coming because your life experience can teach us many lessons. You have overcome so much and have a good healthy positive attitude. Not many people can do that. Instead they have a pity party or start blaming people and things for not being positive.
Keep on sharing, you are an inspiration to us all.

Hi Erika, You certainly have found a way to deal with a lot by keeping positive and dealing with fear in a timely manner. I love all of the quotes and they certainly back what you have put into place yourself. I’m thankful that all is well and you’re teaching others how to overcome obstacles by remaining positive, dealing with your fears and moving forward toward your bright future. Thanks so much for this article.

Hi Erika,
It seems that everything that’s negative in our lives stems from fear. But I do like your approach in dealing with it.
I never heard of making dear your partner though by underatanding it. This gives a different perception of it, even to the point of looking forward to it so that you can grow.
I can only imagine how much fear there was during the war between Iran and Iraq. I have a coworker from Iran and he also went to Germany I believe in the late 1970s. I’ll have to ask next time I see him.
Thanks for sharing Erika and I hope you have a great weekend!

I am happy you see this different way to deal with fear and it works ,many successful people ,do this.
Yes, it was a lot of fear in that time ,I was lucky not to be there ,I was during the revolution there.
I can tell ,the fear we have to deal with usually is very less than some people experienced because some had to
leave all behind and get out in ways ,I can not write about here.I am grateful to say that I am able to deal good
with fear because naturally I become calm and not headless and know what to do. I could help many with this .
Your friend may have come because of the revolution ,it was 1978 and the war started September 1980.
Thank you ,I will have a great weekend ,because I am going to visit my son in Toronto with the kids, his dream
came true and he just started his new business.
I hope yours is good too ,maybe you go dancing?

Hi Erika
How can I even classify my small aggravations as “fear” when I read what you have had to face, and have overcome? There’s no comparison and it just shows me how blessed my life is.
It’s probably a reflection of the fact that my “fears” are minor in perspective, that I deal with them in this way.
If there is something I am dreading doing, I either make myself do it first thing – or if that would involve too much of a wait (stressing overnight) – I give myself a reward for getting the feared task out of the way and behind me.
I guess that counts as a mini-schedule. And I pray that my fears are never as great as the ones you have overcome.

Hi Joy,
There are so many people who have to overcome even more .
I sometimes think it was like nothing what I experienced ,we all are blessed
and still here π You do good with dealing with fear, best is getting it out of the way.
I think the more we think about it the bigger it gets. set it aside or getting it out of the way is best.
I too pray that we learn to see fear different and like the quote of Dale Carnegie: βFirst ask yourself: What is the worst that can happen?
Than prepare to accept it. Then proceed to improve on the worstβ

This is a wonderful way to deal with fear, Erika.
Scheduling emotions is a way of controlling them. All we need to do is make that conscious decision to take control and it’s much easier than you might expect.
Even if you are feeling fear, you can make the decision to deal with the fear later. Even when you are still feeling fearful, you can pretend you don’t… until you’re ready to engage the feeling.
Love the story, too, of course. Fascinating and very inspiring.

I’ve been taking so long over an important task and after reading this I realize it’s because of fear. I’d just put it down to not wanting to do it as some of it is tedious. It involves an application for an update of funding options for the day time activities for my disabled son. I know whatever I decide the outcome isn’t going to be perfect but it has to be done.
I’ve done bits of it each day for two weeks, which has prolonged the fear. I should have set aside a chunk of time and done it all at once and got rid of it. All that’s left is to photocopy the application and stick it in an envelope to be posted. I’m going to do this as soon as I finish here.
I worked in the Human Relations department of an Iranian bank, in London, during the revolution. The majority of our staff were Iranian and the management were on temporary placements from Iran. All had family back there. It was a frightening time for all of them.; in many cases life changing, as it was for you.

Hi Sue ,
I hope you could finish your task in between. It is better not to take so long for this fearful things , the more we dwell on it ,the universe gives us more of it .
Always try to get things like this behind you and focus on the positive side of it ,expect better .do not seek perfect but progress.
I know it is not always easy and sometimes we are not aware of our fear. I wish you and your son the best outcome.
If you knew Iranians in that time ,you know how it was and it did change the life of many people.

I like the idea of telling your fear you are going to deal with it in 3 days, while you let your mind settle. You have certainly learnt this from experience!!
You have some lovely quotes above Erika, that really describe how fear halts our energy, progress, joy and life, clouds our future, and keeps us rooted to the past.
I believe fear must come out or it will destroy us, and really like your option to address it, and follow your intuition. I also think many people procrastinate because of fear.
I have an issue I am going to practice this on.
