How you can start with your self-improvement

Recognize the good things in your life
Once you’ve written down your list, the next thing that you need to do is look at your situation with a clear mind. Don’t get distracted by what others have to say or by your perception of how others would feel, because, at this point, your thoughts and emotions are the only things that should matter. Sometimes, it’s easy to forget the good things that you have going on in your life when you have a cloudy mind so always start with a clear head. Do meditation exercises to get aware of that voice that keeps on feeding you negative ideas. You need to develop a good relationship with yourself if you want to succeed in your personal self-improvement journey. Love and accept yourself.

Always look for the positive aspects
Look for positive aspects of your life that you appreciate. Do gratitude exercises that will not only improve your emotional state but also give you a better understanding of yourself. No matter how bad a situation you are in, there is always something there that you can be grateful for. It’s just a matter of changing your perspective. Living in a state of gratitude can change your life in ways that you never thought were possible.

Before, I was full of negative thoughts that I’ve been left behind by my batchmates in high school. Most of them are already working abroad while I’m left here in a third-world country. Everyone dreams of working abroad to improve one’s life status. But upon moments of reflection with the help and support of my husband, I realized that I’m much more blessed. I am able to work at home as a freelance writer and earn as much as I want without the need to working in another country.

Hey Erika,
There always a positive side of everything. You can improve yourself by taking everything as the best option. There are many people who are struggling to be the best but they fail.
It’s because they don’t try to relax and think about their life and the mistakes they have done in the past. It’s a way much better than just working the whole day.

Taking time to think about mistakes and looking at them is good.
They can be good teachers for the future. Only by this we can grow
and make it better.We have to change the way we look at things and
unlearn a lot of what we have been taught. Taking responsibility
for our life and not blame circumstances will improve us and our
outlook on life. Abdul Kalam said our best teacher is your last mistake.

Long time no see!
I’ve come to realize that we need balance, meaning both positive and negative.
But, many of us dwell on the negative a lot longer than we should. This is where self improvement is needed to get back into balance.
I think starting off with gratitude helps a lot. When we can recognize all of the things in our life that have been a positive influence in our lives then we start a more positive mental shift. When we see this, I think the next step is to make ourselves useful in a more positive way.
For example: you writing publishing this post helps all of your readers to be more positive and balance. In this sense you’re a great help!

I’m normally easy going but there is one issue that I sometimes struggle with, to do with a relationship that I can’t avoid. Last week I let it get to me and I was angry (unusual) and upset. I disliked feeling like that so much that I turned to mindfulness and gratitude, and social media for motivational quotes). I felt better within an hour and understand how I’ll deal with something like this again, before it happens.
The techniques you talk of here really work and are worth practicing until they filter through all of your thinking.

I am currently going through a bit of a situation and I am absolutely looking at the positives instead of what has caused some issue. My family is healthy and safe, I love my husband (and he loves me too), I have good friends. Life is still good. This is just a bump in the road

Our thoughts, our attitude, is so important. If we change how we think, we change how we act. Our actions can lead us to joy and happiness, or sorrow and misery. It’s a choice that most people don’t recognize.
The saddest thing is that most people think things just happen to them and they can’t do anything about it. Often, the only choice we have is our reaction or acceptance of difficult things in life.
