Giving is a pillar of the spiritual side of success.
Giving is another fundamental aspect of the spiritual side of success . When we give generously of our time, talents, and resources, we not only help others but also experience a sense of fulfillment and joy that can lead to greater success.
The reason we look at these 5 pillars is that for thousands of years, people experienced that their lives expanded when they lived and practiced these teachings:
Prayer and Fasting we saw how it benefits us; for example, fasting from hurry and worry and being of service to others. Today we look at the spirit of giving an increased trust in the flow of life.
There is a difference between being of service and giving. Helping others and giving what we know, or have plenty of it, is being of service. We share our knowledge, or we help to carry something; we listen and give advice, or we give a smile….
Giving is if we give out of spirit if we give even though we think we cannot afford to give when we share what we own when we share a part of our belongings.
Tithing a part of our salary, for example, for somebody in need, even if it hurts.
We may hesitate and have to overcome the part of ourselves who wants to withhold, but we give anyway; this is truly giving. To share your own possessions and give of yourself.
Kahlil Gibran, On Giving
“You give but little when you give of your possessions.
It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.
They give that they may live, for to withhold is to perish”.
If we give anyway, we will find that life is generous; we will go with the flow of life.
Life is always seeking a freer, fuller, expanded expression of itself by means of itself.
Life delights to support us, to uplift us, to carry us forward if we work with life, not asking life to work with us .- Mary Morrissey
“The Divine operation is always for expansion and fuller expression,
and this means the production of something beyond what has gone before,
something entirely new, not included in past experience,
though proceeding out of it by an orderly sequence of growth”.
-Thomas Troward
Now we learned what giving really means, and sometimes we will hesitate when we feel we should give.
But let’s do it anyway when we feel it is right and see what begins to happen.
Work with life and start giving out of spirit today.
“For in truth, it is life that gives unto life while you, who deem yourself a giver,
are but a witness. Rather rise together with the giver on his gifts as on wings;
For to be over mindful of your debt is to doubt his generosity who has the freehearted earth for mother and God for father”. – Khalil Gibran – On Giving
When I chased after money, I never had enough. When I got my life on purpose and focused on giving of myself and everything that arrived into my life, then I was prosperous.
— Wayne Dyer
The Law of Giving says the more you give of yourself without expecting a return, the more that will come back to you. That’s because we live in an ocean of motion—nothing stands still. There’s a constant flow of energy in our universe, and this energy flows to and through us.
The flow of money, relationships, and opportunities in our lives mirror our flow of energy interacting with the universal field of energy around us.- Bob Proctor – the Law of Giving
And the Bhagavad Gita:
“You have the right to work, but for the work’s sake only. You have no right to the fruits of work. Desire for the fruits of work must never be your motive in working. Never give way to laziness, either.
Perform every action with your heart fixed on the Supreme Lord. Renounce attachment to the fruits. Be even-tempered in success and failure: for it is this evenness of temper that is meant by yoga.
Work done with anxiety about results is far inferior to work done without such anxiety in the calm of self-surrender. Seek refuge in the knowledge of Brahma. They who work selfishly for results are miserable.”
When you cease to make a contribution, you begin to die.— Eleanor Roosevelt
“Rings and jewels are not gifts, but apologies for gifts. The only gift is a portion of thyself.”
“To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.”
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
“It is the heart that does the giving; the fingers only let go,” — a Nigerian saying.
“To give, I am no miser; to take, I am no divine.”- Satyananda Sarangi

Hi, Erika
I love your definition of spirit of giving – Giving is, if we give out of spirit,if we give even we think we cannot afford to give. It is not the amount is counted.
The important of spirit of giving in human life is well expressed in Eleanor Roosevelt’s Quote “When you cease to make a contribution, you begin to die”.
Love this post Erika.
Will pas it along.

It is right sometimes we feel we should give,
but we think we have to give something up we need ourselves,
but I we do give anyways ,we will see it will be enough.
The universe is abundant.

Hi Erika, Beautiful post. It is truly when we give of our hearts that it’s a two way benefit…it’s a benefit to the receiver and it benefits you also. We all have so much to offer and we tend to hold it in because sometimes we feel our gift is not enough. So we must put that aside and give anyway… we don’t know the gift that it is to someone else. I do give tithes as well and then I meditate and pray on God’s Word. Thanks so much for sharing this. God bless.

Hi,
Very good post. Nothing in this world is eternal only the helps to the needy which one does by giving remains.
And your post well explains this. Your post evoked the works of Khalil Gibran.

Hi Basharath ,

So we can share what is god given with the needy .

Hey Erika,
Thanks very much for this post. It has really evoked some sensations in me. I am naturally a giver. I give until there is no more. I always try my best to help persons in need. In addition to this I also do voluntary service, another from of giving. What all of this has done for me is to make me feel fulfilled. Thanks again and all the best.

Giving is truly a joy when you let go the fear tht somehow there is not enough or you are not enough.
I often find myself pulled by time and yet time is really one of the most important things we have to give as it shows what we value.
Our time is truly irreplacable but so few people realize its value
Thanks for a great article

Hi Mary ,
Yes, if we give ,even we have to overcome our resistance ,
we will see it is always enough available to us.
You are right ,time has value as well and it is always
nice if it is appreciated ,if we give of our time .
I have been thinking about as well ,but in reality time
is like water or air always in flow and it is plenty ,
only in our world now, if we have schedules and plans it is
getting irreplaceable .
Thank you

Great post Erica,
Giving is indeed a very good habit and if you does it well without expecting anything in return then, doors will be opening for you steady, you will be experiencing an unlimited flow of Gods favour in your life all the time.
We should all learn to be a giver.

The spirit of giving. Yes I am in the spirit of giving. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.

Hey Erika,
I saw Wayne Dyer’s quote and that was me in a nutshell. Job after boring job I went to. Working extra hours for the cash. It all about the cash while I went in search of my path. I spent a fortune on courses and hours reading (not that the reading was a problem – I loved that),but looking for the path. I knew I had to be of service. That was so deep within myself. At times even feeling an ache that I was not sharing my own wealth of knowledge. Then I stumbled on blogging – well I did not stumbled I thought about it for three years before I acted and then when I found it – I knew I was giving and being of service. Money no longer is the want. Probably more days in the week and more hours in the day. But not money.
I don’t hesitate in giving but I suppose I used to. And I am trying not to withhold a single thing, but that takes a little practice, for me anyway. Thanks for a wonderful read.
Rachel.
Hi Rachel ,
nice to see you here 🙂
and thank you for your story, I can feel how it is, and you are not alone. We all have our special path
to find our true purpose. Being able to do what we love is a blessing and we start to
think differently about the money issue. Money is needed, all of us need it and the more
we can have the more we can help, but it is not the center of our thinking which made us struggle.
It is good to get out of this circle and realize that it is not this what makes us get up in the morning,
there is something more fulfilling.
You are right it takes practise to give freely, we grew up with a different thinking and beliefs, but if we are mindful
and get aware of this believes. If we trust and listen to our inner voice and go with the universal laws, we will feel the
pull of the universe which always seeks a freer and fuller expression of itself.http://erikamohssen-beyk.com/wp-admin/edit-comments.php#comments-form

The word “Giving…” It can have so many meanings depending on who is using the word. I really enjoyed this post Erika.
As you grow older, and hopefully wiser, you begin to see what truly matters in life, what truly has value.
“The Heart That Gives, Gathers.” Tao Te Ching.
This is one of the simplest concepts about the benefit of being a giver. If you focus on giving, all that you need in this life will be given to you in return. 🙂
