What Are Paradigms?
Often, when talking about It, People ask: what are paradigms?
I thought it might be good to explain here what it is.
Bob Proctor says that a paradigm is a multitude of habits.
These habits are stored in our subconscious minds, and we are not even aware of them. These are our belief systems.
We carry them usually from the past; these are things we learned from our
parents and grandparents and from school; some are even older.
These people are not to blame; they gave us what they thought was good for us. They did not know better themselves.
And we got Domesticated – domestication explained with a simple story. Read an excerpt here.
Some we learned not long ago by ourselves. Like, for example, driving a car.
We learned it, and now we do it automatically; also, we do not need to think about the how, as we needed to do when we learned it.
We have our habits from the morning until the evening working for us.
Getting up, brushing teeth, shaving, combing the hair, dressing, this goes habitually.
Your Paradigms put you on autopilot.
It is Paradigms that, together with limiting beliefs, de-genius us and ignite the voice of inner judgment.

Have A Paradigm Shift
Some Habits are good, and some can be bad or not necessary. But we only realize them if we become aware of them.
There are many stories about this, but one I often hear is this one.
There was a family, and they made roast beef when they came together for a birthday. A new family member saw the mother cut the meat’s ends off before putting it in the pan; he asked why.
Nobody knew the answer; only the grandma said, I used to do this in the past because my pan was not big enough for the meat.
This habit stayed with the family even though it was not necessary anymore, and they did not even realize it.
Here is another similar story
Paradigms are Habits, other people’s habits, and they rule our lives; they are beliefs, work practices, expectations, and attitudes we inherited.
They are like a program installed in us, and we act on them.
It’s like the rules of a game we have to play; we live our life how others expect we have to live it if we are not getting aware and changing them.
Those belief systems or paradigms are how we see the world. As such, they constitute our reality. Our actions, personal life choices, and professional decisions are heavily influenced and, at times, strongly directed by our paradigms.

Spot on. Thanks for the post. Very Informational.
Thank you Victor ,
First we have to find the habits ,sometimes not easy,
but if we know about and get aware ,we can release and change .
let go of the limiting ones.
To a better and open mind 🙂
Erika,
This is an awesome post. We were talking about this, just the other day here at the house.
My father, a good man and good provider had his way of looking at things which basically ended up the 9 to 5 JOB that he also passed that belief down to me and I in turn passed to my daughter.
My best friends father, however, took a leap of faith and ventured out on his own and lived his dream and was very successful at it.
I want to make it clear that I loved my father dearly and do not think any less of him because he worked a 9 to 5 JOB but I just came upon the realization of the differences in how our parents taught us and the different outcomes.
Have a great day. See you at the meeting this evening. Monna

Thank you stating so clearly a term many have added complex layers to over the years. As I continue to grow in network marketing I am forced to evaluate and analyze my methods of operation. When I come across material such as this it helps me to restructure how I view what I am doing. Looking for the meaning behind the meanings. This process breaks me out of habits that would limit my growth. The fixed ideas that were implanted in me were place there in a different time. I still remember “dialing a phone number” and waiting till I got home to see if anyone called. and There only mail came once a day and was delivered by a person. I still respect and assimilate the teachings of my past with what I do today. I must modify. I can not accept the past teachings without checking to see it’s practical application today. Sometimes I still cut the ends off the roast beef. The memories of the discussions around the practice warms the heart. thank you for reminding me of who I am and why. have a wonderful weekend and i look forward to your next post. I am sure it will be equally as enlightening.
Thank you for your comment Simuel,
I think we all cut the ends sometimes ,not eberything we have from the past is wrong .
The key is to be aware and than we can change what is not good anymore and replace it with something better .
I am grateful you liked the post and I hope I get the inspiration to write something good again 🙂
Ah… very helpful, I’ve always wondered what that word meant. Now I understand better. I used to get Bob Proctor’ “6 minutes to Success” I enjoyed it …
Thank you for the comment Lesly,
yes,I realized that this word is strange to some people ,
and I thought to explain what I learned from Bob Proctor .
Yes, the Six Minutes can be very helpful . 🙂
Thank you for a clear definition of paradigms. One habit it took me years to break was that of always taking my handbag into the bedroom with me each night.
It was a habit that I picked up from my mother. We lived in a city in UK that was badly affected by WWII bombing raids. The handbag was always in place for her regular nighttime visits to the air-raid shelter. She never got out of the habit so even though the war was long over by the time I was born it was something I also automatically did.

Hi Erika,
I’ve heard about paradigms before but didn’t really know what they were. You’ve explained it perfectly and now it makes sense to me. I can totally see how having a paradigm shift can bring about a positive change.
Hi Lea,
I realized that many do not really know what paradigms are and this is why I did write about.
I think Bob Proctor in his video did explain it even better.
Only if we are aware of these limiting beliefs we can them.
Some really hold us back.
I am glad you liked the post
Thank you for your comment
Erika
Hi Erika,
I thought of paradigms as an example. But you have made it clear about the Paradigm shift.
So thanks for sharing.
Have a good day.
Hi Robin,
we all learned things which hold us back.
Only if we are aware of them we can change them and let go of beliefs and habits which are
not right anymore.
Thank you for your comment
Erika
Hey Erika,
Glad to read your wonderful post,
Well defined paradigms in simple way, yet it is unknown for me but now i understand this term and i really agree with you.
Many of habit with us comes by observing parents, schools and elders. Yes, you are correct paradigms are like a program which installed in us and we act on them only.
Thanks for sharing your worthy post.
With best regards,
Amar kumar
Hi Amar,
You got it right . Paradigms often hold us back and are not good for us .
Some habits and traditions we learned may not fit in our time anymore and keep us from
using our potential. Good to let go of the ones who do not serve us anymore.
Thank you for your comment
Erika
Have never heard of Paradigms but definitely experienced before that I didn’t even know about, love to know about Paradigms, thanks.
Hi Louis ,
I am glad you learned about paradigms
We all have them and good to be aware
of them .
Thank you

Hello Erika! You did a fantastic job here explaining the meaning of paradigm shift! I have always heard people talk about having a “paradigm shift” but never really knew what they meant by this!!
Great Share
Thanks
Chery :))
Hi Chery ,
I am glad you liked the post . It is good to know about and we can get aware of
the paradigms. Some of them really can keep us trapped. Good to let go of the
ones who hold us back or can change them .
Thank You
Erika
Hi Erika,
there is no better feeling in the world when we make that shift in our paradigm. Sometimes even recognizing something gives us an AHA moment. We all carry many around with us. But as long as we keep questioning ourselves there is an endless amount we can learn. Then tweak..fix and make ourselves better human beings.
-donna
Hi Donna ,
you are right and we always keep learning . Even Bob Proctor said that he is changing beliefs and letting go of paradigms since 55 Years,
but still, he finds more .Good to be aware and ,as you say , tweak and fix .
Thank you
Erika
Hi Erika,
Interesting and informative post! It is all about the shift, isn’t it ? Learned something new, thank you!
Hi Joan,
you are right it is all about getting conscious of what is limiting us
and change it to better.

Hi Erika mam
I have heard about paradigms but did not know what it exactly meant.

Hi Sonal ,
now you know it , it is habits and things we learned and do
subconsciously ,some are good ,many do not serve us ,good to get
aware of them and let them go especially the ones who hold us back
from doing what we love .
Thank you
Erika
Hi Erika
The first time I came upon Paradigm shift was when I read about the monkey experiment. Since then, I see how much people have been caged by their limiting beliefs. Sometimes I challenge my beliefs as I am aware that what worked today might not work tomorrow. Love the the video by bob. Thanks for sharing. Take Care
Hi Ikechi,
yes the video is good . You are right we always better be aware of our beliefes
and listen first to our heart .Inside we know what is right .
I am glad you liked it.
Thank you
Erika
Great article like this require readers to think as they read. I took my time when going through the points made in this article. I agree with much this information.
I am glad you liked the post, and be aware of limiting beliefs.
Thank you
Erika
Hi Erika,
Great post and a thought-provoking video from the great Bob Proctor.
Yes, we do need to make changes to what isn’t working if we expect different results. Many old habits really do not serve us well.
Thanks for a timely reminder.

Hi Joy,
yes it is right, many old habits do not serve us anymore
Good to get aware of them .
Bob Proctor is a great teacher and he said that he is

finds some .

Our mindset can be so important when it comes to hardships and struggles.
You mentioned Paradigm shifts which can be so effective in changing ones mental and physical health.
You are the master of your own mind!
Thanks for the value here!
Hi Matt,
you are right ,the mind and our thinking are important for our health.
Struggle and stress make sick . Often we deal with old habits which make
struggle ,paradigms which we need to get aware of and let them go.
If we change the way we look at things ,the things we look at change
and may become less stressful. We are able to think differently.
Thank you
Erika
Your article is very informative. It’s a welcome change from other supposed informational content. Your points are unique and original in my opinion. I agree with many of your points.

What a great article!. I am bookmarking it to read it over again after work. It seems like a very interesting topic to write about.
Thank you 🙂
I’ve heard the roast story before, in fact, I think I’ve used it only with ham. Regardless, it’s a perfect example of a paradigm because it creates a powerful visual. Really enjoyed your article Erika and couldn’t agree more with your thoughts on the need to focus on changing ourselves to change our reality. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hi Marquita ,
nice to see you here 🙂
You are right the stories are similar roast or ham . I think it is a good way to show how paradigms can make us do even ridiculous things . It needs somebody new to get aware of it.
If we get aware of this things ,change will happen. I think gaining consciousness is what we need to create a better world.
Thank you for your comment and visit

Excellent post, Thankyou for explaining this. I’m not aware of paradigms before but after reading this I have got changes in myself, and I think it should be a real difference in my life. I can surely say this paradigms change will definitely bring a positive change in my life.
Thanks for sharing this worthy post
Hi Satish,
good you got aware what paradigms are, we all have to deal with them.
Only if we get aware, we can release them and change our beliefs and
perception about things. Paradigms can hold us back from reaching what
we want in life. There are good ones too, but we learned a lot of limiting
beliefs which we better get rid of when we realise them.
I am glad you like the post and hope you find the paradigms
which hold you back and release them .To your success 🙂
